How to Host an Adult Pumpkin Carving Party
We host an adult pumpkin party every year before Halloween to celebrate the season with a few friends. We like to keep this party simple and casual, just a chance to get together, get creative and celebrate with drinks and some laughs.
How to Host an Adult Pumpkin Carving Party
Keep it simple
We like to invite just a few friends so that we have enough room at our table for everyone. This would also be a great party to host outside if you have a patio or yard space available. We cover our table with a disposable tablecloth that we can just wrap up and trow away after it gets messy. Ask your guests to BYOP (bring your own pumpkin) and even better if they clean it out before they arrive. If not, have a plan for how they will do that. We just use our sink area but if outside have a trash bin available. We pick up a couple of carving template books that come with carving utensils so there is enough for everyone. Find a Halloween playlist to have on while everyone is carving away.
Make a Signature Cocktail
Pick one seasonal cocktail to serve. This year I made an apple cider margarita from Half Baked Harvest and it was a hit. You can find the recipe here. You can also have beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks available.
Roast Pumpkin Seeds
Have some pumpkin seeds roasting in the oven while guests are carving. Clean your pumpkin out the night before so you don’t have to do it while guests are there. This way you can gather your pumpkin seeds, boil them and then let them dry overnight. This recipe from Wholefully has great advice on making great pumpkin seeds and 6 different flavors. We made the ranch and sweet and spicy and both were loved.
Line up the Pumpkins and Take Pictures
Don’t forget to take pictures of everyone’s finished pumpkins. You can create a little competition if you would like and vote for the best pumpkins. Here are some of our pumpkin carving photos through the years.
